    The Graduation of First Wuhan University Sino-American Medical Reform Class

    On June 20th, the graduation of First Wuhan University Sino-American Medical Reform Class was held in School of Medicine.Feng Youmei, WHU’s Executive President and President of School of Medicine,Ms.Elizabeth Bader from the University of Chicago Center in Beijing,other guests, representatives of teaching faculty, and students attended the ceremony. The graduation ceremony was hosted by Yu Xiangting, Executive Vice President of School of Medicine.

    Of all the 47 graduates in Sino-AmericanMedical Reform Class,39 will further their studies. All the students have achieved a lot. They have published more than 20 thesis, 6 of them are included in SCI. Zhao Xianda and He Yuyu have been awarded the second prize in National College Students Basic Medicine Innovation Forum in 2012 and the first prize Outstanding Scientific Research of Hubei Province in both 2012 and 2013.

    Dating back to 2008, Wuhan University and University of Chicago have begun the cooperation in medical education reform. By exchanging views and discussing over teaching contents, teaching methodology,and evaluation systems, a set of courses with Sino-American characteristics has been built and perfected up till now.From 2009 till now, the Sino-AmericanMedical Reform Class has recruited more than 260 students. University of Chicago has sent 87 management experts and professors to help us in course establishment, faculty training, teaching evaluation, and so on. School of Medicine has sent 53 management faculty and teachers to further their studies in University of Chicago. Additionally, 35 students from University of Chicago have been exchanged to study in Wuhan University and have taken internships here.
