On June 21st, the 7th Graduation Ceremony of Sino-French Medical Class was held at School of Medicine. Feng Youmei, WHU’s Executive President and President of School of Medicine,Academician Stolz from Université de Lorraine, Prof. Zhou Yunfeng and Prof. HeXiaohua conferred the master degree to 20 postgraduates.
Mr.Philippe Martinet,the Consul General of French Embassy, Mr. Marc Bondiou,the technology specialist, Ms.Madame Sandrine Martin,officer of French Teaching Program, leaders from relevant departments, representatives of teachers, and parents of the postgraduates attended the graduation ceremony.
The 20 students of the 7th Sino-French Medical Class were chosen out of over 300 undergraduates. They tried their best to master French in a short time. 18 of them have been to France to study for over 4 months. Under the help and guidance of teachers from China and France, they successfully completed their studies and made remarkable progress. 9 of them will further study as doctorate in France, HK, and key universities in Mainland China.Others will work in Beijing Chao-Yang Hospital , Hubei General Hospital, and soon.
In order to promote medical education reform, WHU and Université de Lorraine began their cooperation of seven-year Sino-French Medical Class in 2001. It has now recruited 263 students and 172 of them have interned in France. Université de Lorraine has sent 105 teachers to WHU to lecture. There are 163 graduates in total. School of Medicine has sent over 30 teachers to further study in France and 101 students from Université de Lorraine have been exchanged to study and intern at School of Medicine, WHU. Also,cooperation includes joint-doctorate cultivation program and scientific research in the fields of cells and tissue engineering and the clinical application. Eight international conferences have been held and over 40 papers have been co-authored in international academic journals.
