At the 13th Annual Meeting of the Cardiovascular Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Professor Wang Zhiwei, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery of Wuhan University People's Hospital, was awarded the honorary title of "Good Physician of Cardiovascular Surgery” ("Golden Knife Award"). A total of five people won the title, only one person in Hubei Province.

"Golden Knife Award" is the highest award of the heart surgeon in China selected by the Cardiovascular Surgery Branch and approved by the Chinese Medical Association. Only five people can be awarded across the country every year, representing the highest level of the clinical cardiovascular surgery in China.

During the selection, the professional judges strictly screened hundreds of applications and recommended materials of young cardiovascular surgery physicians, taking a comprehensive consideration of the applicant's surgery amounts, surgical results, social influence, and ability of scientific research and innovation.

Wang Zhiwei, doctor of medicine, second-level professor, first-level chief physician, doctoral tutor, the director of thoracic surgery and cardiac vascular surgery of Wuhan University People's Hospital, is one of the young experts who made outstanding contributions selected by National Health and Family Planning Commission, and is subsidized by the State Council.(Translated by Song Min, Wu Xia)
