On March 18 and 19, the 12th Sino-US Conference on Medical Professionalism was held at WUSM, with over 300 participants from National Health and Family Planning Commission, Hubei Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, and 15 universities including Columbia University, Peking University, Sun Yat-Sen University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan University and Wuhan University.
During the conference, Feng Youmei, Executive Vice President of WHU, Dean of WUSM and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of WUSM met with Ke Yang, the former Executive Vice President and former Deputy Director of Peking University Medical School and exchanged opinions on medical student education issues.
On March 18, the opening ceremony was held in Yubi Hall, WUSM. Chen Xiaohong, former Deputy Director of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, Lin Junjie, Director of the Science and Education Department of the Hubei Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, and Shu Hongbing, vice president of WHU and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences respectively delivered speeches. They affirmed the achievements of medical professionalism research over the past decade and the positive attitude of doctors’ medical professionalism. Besides, they believed in a promising progress of medical professionalism with the support of government, the reform of the health care system and hospital management, and the medical professionalism education and training.
On March 19, the founding ceremony of the Chinese Medical Students Professionalism Alliance and the12th Sino-US Conference on Medical Professionalism • The Student Session was held in the International Hall, WUSM. At the closing ceremony, Chen Xiaohong shared his learning and work experience with participants, and wished medical students a bright future through their diligence.
It is reported that the conference was organized by the Sino-US Medical Professionalism Research Center of the Peking University Medical School and WUSM, hosted by the Medical Humanities Quality Education Center of WUSM, WHU Medical Academic Exchange Association and Wuhan University Zhongnan Hospital.
