June 6, Liu Yadong, Editor-in-Chief of “Science and Technology Daily”, presented a report entitled “China’s Scientific and Technological Innovation in a Global Perspective” for the 21st Lecture of Luojia in Yubi Hall of MUSM. Tang Qizhu, Vice President presided over it and over 600 teachers and students heard the report.
Liu Yadong listed a series of data at the beginning of the report. Through contrasting data, personal experience and special reports of “Science and Technology Daily”, he illustrated the status quo of China’s science and technology development and its gap with the developed countries, and concluded that we should keep going.
When talking about ZTE Incident and Huawei Incident, Liu Yadong, mentioned that the quantity of the products is important, but the quality is more important. There are still some profound problems in China’s science and technology development, mainly due to insufficient innovative ability and weak basic research such as the shortcomings of core technology industrial manufacturing and other fields.
According to his view, the root of many problems lies in the lack of scientific spirit. China’s scientific and technological innovation and development not only requires scientific knowledge, but also requires the spirits of craftsmanship.
Liu Yadong is a senior journalist, Editor-in-Chief of “Science and Technology Daily”, Vice Chairman of China Newspaper Association, and Vice President of China Economic Media Association. His news works won China News Award nine times. (translated by Wang Dingying and Wu Xia)
