On May 20th, the annual selection of Wuhan University Education Development Foundation Outstanding Medical Students Special Fund was held in the WUSM administrative building. Xiong Ying, Vice Dean of WUSM and Supervisor of Outstanding Medical Student Fund, Executive Director Deng Lanying, and Director Xue Rong attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed and selected the awarded individuals and projects, namely, Yao Shiyi was awarded with A-level “Outstanding Medical Student Scholarship” for distinguished academic performance and excellent popularization of science in picture; Sun Ao won B-level “Outstanding Medical Student Scholarship” for setting up “Smile” service team and winning the National Gold Medal for voluntary service on behalf of Wuhan University; Zhu Jiakang received B-level scholarship for distinguished academic performance; the hospice care project “Warm Candlelight Action " launched by Zhou Wenjie and other students won the funds from the foundation.

It is reported that the Wuhan University Education Development Foundation Outstanding Medical Students Special Fund was initiated in December 2012 by a group of alumni who care about the development of WUSM, aimed to help outstanding medical students grow and bring forth new ideas. The reward and funds are intended for individuals and projects with demonstrative significance of to promote the development of WUSM and the full development of medical students. The 2017 selection is the fifth one since the establishment of the foundation. A number of outstanding students and innovative projects have been rewarded since the first selection.
