    Nature Published the Research Results of Sino-US Cooperation in Endocrinology and Metabolism

    International top magazine Nature recently published the research results co-conducted by Mount Sinai School of Medicine and Wuhan University School of Stomatology. It shows that follicle stimulating hormone had a significant effect on adipose tissue energy metabolism.

    The title of the research paper is “Blocking FSH Induced Thermogenic Adipose Tissue and Reduces Body Fat”. Dr. Ji Yaoting, from College of Stomatology Wuhan University, is the co-first author, and Professor Mone Zaidi who is a well-known scientist in endocrinology from Mount Sinai School of Medicine is the corresponding author.

    This study is an important finding in the field of endocrine and metabolic research, expected to promote the development of a single drug which can treat osteoporosis, weight gain, as well as general obesity after menopause. It also provides theoretical and practical basis for diseases involving other visceral fats, such as metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes and polycystic ovarian disease.

    The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of International (regional) cooperation and exchange project, top-notch talent project from Wuhan University School of Stomatology, and project from the US National Institutes of Health. (Author: Wu Xia; Song Min)
