On September 26, Professor Chen Qianxue from Neurosurgery Department, Wuhan University People's Hospital, was awarded the honorary title of "Wang Zhongcheng Neurosurgeon of the Year Award”. A total of three people won the title, only one person in Hubei Province.
"Wang Zhongcheng Neurosurgeon of the Year Award” is the highest award of Chinese neurosurgeons, which names after academician Wang Zhongcheng, the founder of China's neurosurgery and the winner of Top National Award for Science and Technology. The selection was strictly screened, taking a comprehensive consideration of the applicant's surgery amounts, social and academic influence, and ability of scientific research.
Professor Chen Qianxue, is doctor of medicine, doctoral tutor, head and academic leader of Neurosurgery Department of Wuhan University People's Hospital, second-level chief physician, and one of the first medical leaders in Hubei Province. During the29 years’ neurosurgery clinical work, he completed more than 10,000 cases of surgery, and over 5,000 cases of microsurgery. He specializes in treatment of skull base tumours, glioma synthesis and epilepsy surgery.
Chen Qianxue presided over 4 general projects under National Natural Science Foundation, 1 key scientific and technological project of Hubei Province, and 10 other provincial subject researches. He participated in 1 sub-project of the National Science and Technology Support Program as well. He published over 140 academic papers as the first author or corresponding author, including 35 SCI papers. He complied and translated 2 monographs, co-complied 8 monographs. His scientific research achievements won 1 first prize and 2 second prizes of Hubei Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award(the first completer); 1 third prize of Wuhan Science and Technology Progress Award (the first completer).
He also participated in the compilation of the textbook Neurosurgery, trained more than 300 trainee doctors across from the country, 36 doctoral students, over 60 postgraduates, many of whom become the academic leaders in field of neurosurgery. The doctoral students under his guidance won Hubei Province Outstanding Thesis of Doctoral Student Award in 2014, won the second prize of the 6th National College Students Clinical Skills Competition, won the third prize of the 6th National Higher Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competition.
