On November 18th, the 10th Tan Jiazhen Life Science Award Ceremony was held at Tsinghua University. Deng Zixin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Dean of the School of Pharmacology, Wuhan University was awarded the "Tan Jiazhen Life Science Achievement Award" and Li Hongliang, Dean of School of Basic Medicine, Wuhan University was awarded the "Tan Jiazhen Life Science Innovation Award." More than 30 well-known academicians in life sciences attended the ceremony.
A total of 14 scholars were selected for the awards this year. Deng Zixin and Wu Weihua, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of Biology of China Agricultural University, received the achievement award. Li Hongliang and other 9 scholars were awarded Tan Jiazhen Life Science Innovation Award, including Li Guohong and Fu Xiangdong, alumni of Wuhan University.
Launched by Ministry of Science and Technology, “Tanjiazhen Life Science Award" is awarded to scientists who made achievements in life sciences, young scholars who made innovative research results, and people who made outstanding contributions to the industrialization of scientific achievements of life sciences. It is regarded as the "Nobel Prize" in Chinese life sciences circles. The award is to commemorate Professor Tan Jiazhen, one of the founders of Chinese modern genetics.
