On 14th January, WUSM held the Work Summary Meeting of 2018. Shu Hongbing, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President of WHU; Tang Qizhu, Member of Party Standing Committee of WHU, Vice President of WHU; retired leaders and over 300 teachers and students attended the meeting. Jiang Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee of WUSM, hosted the meeting.
Yu Xiangting, Executive Vice Dean of Medical School made a report that in 2018, WUSM has mainly done eight aspects of work: carrying out education and party building; adhering to student-oriented service; promoting educational reform; improving the construction of teachers and the education level; building first-class medical science; expand international exchanges; enhance medical strength; serving teachers, students and alumni. Meanwhile, he has deployed the work in 2019, which should focus on: timely convening Wuhan University Medical Conference; continuing to promote medical Take-off Plan; deepening educational and teaching reform; strengthening party building.
Afterwards, the heads of School of Basic Medical Sciences, Center for Animal Experiment, First School of Clinical Medicine (Remin Hospital of Wuhan University), Second School of Clinical Medicine
(Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University), School of Stomatology (Hospital of Stomatology Wuhan University), School of Health Sciences, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medical Research Institute, Medical Vocational and Technical College and other 9 units spoke successively.
Tang Qizhu made a conclusion that in recent years, the medical department’s social service awareness and the medical service capacity have been significantly improved, and in the high level of research, the development of the Medical Research Institute, A3 Laboratory, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences has stood out. But WUSM should still closely focus on the spirits of the school’s Ninth Party Congress, to make breakthroughs in the field of infection immunity, cardiovascular disease, oncology, brain science and other fields, to lay out the new development of the data about medical health, biological information, biomedicine and so on, and to promote the leap-forward development of medicine and life science. Thus, WUSM should work hard to contribute to make WHU a world’s first-class university.
