He said that classical poetry and prose are vital to Chinese, and Chinese traditional culture is the root of building the “socialist culture with Chinese characteristics”.
Then Li Jingyi explained the philosophy contained in the classics— “Life is limited while the universe lasts forever” and encouraged medical students to adhere to reading. He also mentioned the importance of humanistic quality for a contemporary student.
Li Jingyi, as a professor and doctoral tutor of Wuhan University, has made lectures about Chinese culture in many TV programs and has published several scholarly articles. (translated by Wang Dingying, Wu Xia)
