On the morning of October 18th, Prof. Jerry Workman, Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Stowers Institute for Medical Research, delivered a speech under the title of “Protein complexes that modify Chromatin for transcription” at the 7th session of the Luojia Medical Forum. Prof. Li Feng from the School of Basic Medical Sciences hosted the forum.
Prof. Jerry Workman's team discovered a series of important superficial regulatory protein complexes and revealed the important role of nucleosome structure in transcriptional regulation. The paper "The identification of Chromatin Remodeling Complexes" published in 2005 was listed in the “Milestones in Gene Expression” by Nature Publishing Group. So far, Prof. Jerry Workman has published more than 250 papers and 6 monographs, nearly 30 papers of which were published in Nature, Science and Cell, with a total citation rate of 38,000, an H index of 103.
In the speech, Prof. Jerry Workman elaborated the regulation of gene expression and physiological functions of Drosophila embryo development by taking SAGA and SESAME complexes as examples. (translated by Song Min, Wu Xia)
