April 23rd, President Dou Xiankang; Tang Qizhu, Member of Party Standing Committee of WHU, Vice President of WHU visited Institute of Model Animals, WHU including Animal Biosafety Level-III Laboratory and Center for Animal Experiment. Heads from School Party and Government Offices, Personnel Department, Laboratory and Equipment Management Department, MUSM, Renmin Hospital, Zhongnan Hospital and other units accompanied the investigation.
Dou Xiankang listened to Li Hongliang, Dean of School of Basic Medical Sciences, Director of Institute of Model Animals, to introduce the development and progress of the institute. Meanwhile, Dou visited the laboratory building and large animal and operating rooms, and gave highly praise for its contribution to the biosafety field in China. When visiting the archives of the institute, Dou carefully watched and inquired, affirming the detailed paper files and digital data. Then, he and the group investigated the operation status of each platform and praised the platform construction, scientific research style and industrialization development prospects of the institute.
