January 26, 2020 People's Daily interviews Professor Gui Xien on issues related to new coronavirus

At the beginning of the new semester, Zhongnan Hospital / Second Clinical School of Wuhan University actively responded to Wuhan University's spirit of "no suspension of classes" and actively organized online teaching for undergraduates. As the lecturer of the course of "Infectious Diseases", Professor Gui conducts online lectures for year 2017 preventive medicine students. In this special period, online teaching is a huge challenge for many teachers. After receiving the notice of online teaching, Professor Gui carefully prepared the courseware. Since Professor Gui had performed eye surgery recently, and his vision has not been fully restored, he prepares lessons with the help of a magnifying glass. At the same time, Professor Gui carefully studied how to carry out online teaching and which way can present the best online teaching results for students. He combined the current form of online teaching and its limitations, and developed a live class and recorded class video in advance as alternative online teaching program. 10 days before the lecture, Professor Gui recorded the lecture video with the assistance of Teacher Song Shihui and Dr. Jiang Qunqun from the Department of Infectious Diseases. He insisted on standing and passionately speaking to the projected screen just like in the classroom, and ask questions from time to time.
