On May 13th, Mike McCourt, the Deputy Director of Health Care and Life Sciences of British Consulate-General Guangzhou, visited Wuhan University School of Medicine（WUSM）to promote cooperation in the fields of health care. Members were received by Luo Anna, the Vice Dean of Office of International Affairs, and Yu Baoping, the Vice Dean of WUSM.

Luo Anna briefly introduced the current cooperation between WHU and UK universities. She pointed out that the exchanges and cooperation between WHU and UK universities and scientific research institutions are getting closer. It is hoped that the cooperation in medical health can be further deepened.

Yu Baoping introduced the basic situation, outstanding disciplines, and current situation of international cooperation of WUSM. He mentioned that WUSM hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with high-level universities and research institutions in the UK and cultivate high-level and top-notch innovative medical talents with an international perspective.

Mike pointed out that in the wake of COVID-19, there are growing demands for medical scientific research and the conversion of research fruits to promote global health. He emphasized that the British Consulate-General Guangzhou will spare no efforts to support and promote the mutually beneficial and substantive cooperation, thus it can facilitate the cooperation between universities of the two sides.

Later, the two parties reached a preliminary intent on the development of medical talents, translational medicine, and scientific research, etc.
