On the occasion of its 25th anniversary, Taikang Insurance Group donated 1 billion yuan to WHU to set up the Taikang Medical and Education Fund, which is used to support the construction of first-class medical and life science disciplines and enhance the scientific and technological innovation capacity in the field of medicine and life science in China.

Chen Dongsheng, the founder, chairman and CEO of Taikang Insurance Group, signed a donation agreement with Dou Xiankang, the president of WHU, at the donation ceremony in Beijing on Aug 22. Liu Tingjun, the president and COO of Taikang Insurance Group presided over the ceremony. Members participating the ceremony included the Administrative Committee members, board of supervisors and shareholder representatives of Taikang Insurance Group; WHU leaders Han Jin, Dou Xiankang, Wu Ping, Tang Qizhu; Yang Jun, the Vice Mayor of Wuhan and alumni representatives in Beijing.

The amount of the donation is the largest of its kind since the foundation of WHU. Based on the national strategy of Healthy China, it aims to support WHU to cultivate high-level talents in medicine and life science, build high-end scientific research platform, focus on the frontier of science research, and conduct high level international cooperation and exchange activities. Thus, the advantages of Taikang Insurance Group can be given into full play and the development of health industry can gain momentum.

In such a post pandemic era and era of longevity, Taikang Insurance Group and WHU collaborates with each other again by making welfare donations and promoting cooperation in disciplines construction, talents cultivation and utilization of platform resources.
